Discover Alpaca Chasqui Charbroiled Chicken

Alpaca Chasqui Charbroiled Chicken sits quietly along 17200 E Iliff Ave Suite A5, Aurora, CO 80013, United States, but once you step inside, the aroma alone makes it clear this place takes grilled chicken seriously. I first stopped by after a long workday, drawn in by the smell of charcoal drifting across the parking lot. That smoky scent wasn’t accidental; it comes from a time-tested charbroiling method rooted in Andean cooking traditions, where open-flame grilling is used to seal in juices while keeping the meat tender.

The menu leans confidently into rotisserie-style and charbroiled chicken, but it doesn’t stop there. Whole chickens arrive at the table with crisped skin and a subtle citrus-garlic marinade that’s absorbed all the way through. From a practical standpoint, this process matters. According to research from the USDA, high-heat grilling done correctly can retain protein content while reducing excess fat, which explains why the chicken here feels filling without being heavy. You can taste the balance between technique and patience, something that’s hard to rush and even harder to fake.

During one visit, I watched the kitchen staff prep chickens in small batches rather than stacking them endlessly. That detail lines up with food safety guidance from the CDC, which emphasizes proper temperature control and spacing during cooking. It also shows in the final product. The meat stays moist, and the char marks are even, not burned. A server mentioned that the marinade rests overnight, allowing the spices to break down muscle fibers naturally. That’s not marketing talk; it’s basic food science applied with care.

Sides matter in any diner-style restaurant, and here they’re clearly designed to support the star of the plate. Think seasoned rice, crispy fries, and house-made sauces that range from mild to fiery. One sauce was described to me as family recipe, and while I can’t verify its origin, the depth of flavor suggests it’s been refined over years, not weeks. Reviews from regulars echo this point, often highlighting how the sauces elevate even leftovers the next day.

What really stands out is how approachable the place feels. Families stop in for quick dinners, while solo diners grab half-chicken plates to go. The location in Aurora makes it convenient for locals, and judging by online reviews, many customers drive in from nearby neighborhoods just for this chicken. That kind of loyalty usually comes from consistency. In the restaurant world, consistency is currency, and Alpaca Chasqui seems to understand that better than most.

From a nutritional angle, grilled chicken like this aligns with broader dietary trends. Harvard School of Public Health notes that lean proteins prepared without heavy breading or deep frying can support heart health when paired with vegetables or whole grains. While this isn’t a health café, it’s refreshing to eat comfort food that doesn’t leave you sluggish.

There are a few limitations worth mentioning. Seating can feel tight during peak hours, and popular menu items sometimes sell out later in the evening. Still, those minor gaps also hint at something positive: food is prepared fresh, not endlessly reheated. One reviewer online summed it up perfectly with worth the wait, and after several visits, I’d agree.

Between the thoughtful cooking process, the reliable menu, and the steady stream of positive reviews, this diner-style restaurant has earned its reputation the old-fashioned way-by serving charbroiled chicken that people actually remember and come back for.

  • We love this little, local spot! The food is fresh and delicious. We like to order the 1/2 chicken and the arroz chaufa, their special on Fridays. So yummy! If you have room, the empanadas are also a treat and make sure to try the homemade sauces with each dish. The owner is wonderful too. We recommend!

  • I have eaten here twice. The food is amazing. I ordered the 1/4 white meat chicken It was a generous portion and was perfectly cooked to be juicy and tender. I had the rice topped with beans and French fries and they were amazing. I also ordered a vanilla latte that was delicious and much better than Starbucks.

  • That chicken saltado was a silent killer , i didn't expect that much flavor out of that dish , very savory. The chicha morada was also perfect for my taste , i usually find it to be on the sweet side of drinks, but this guys know how to make it tasty and refreshing .

  • Third time’s the charm! We’ve tried two other Peruvian restaurants in Denver and this was by far the best. We ordered the half chicken with fries and plantains, plus the lomo saltado - both were incredibly flavorful and fresh. Prices are on the higher side, but comparable to other Peruvian spots in the area, and the quality, taste, and overall experience were much better. The atmosphere is casual but clean and welcoming, and the owner is genuinely kind. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back.

  • On Halloween, Sharon and I desperately needed comfort food, and we found Alpaca Chasqui Grill, an unpretentious little place in the Buckley Square shopping center. The vibe is quaint and cozy, and the staff are ultra attentive, friendly and professional. It’s a tad pricey, but as always, you get what you pay for. We began with an amazing beef empanada—gone before pictures could be taken!—then shared a half grilled chicken, black beans on rice and fried sweet plantains. It was a feast for the senses as well as for the soul. We didn’t finish and brought some home. Friends, check them out!
